Autism Awareness

The Integrated Autism Service
In 2018 we were awarded a grant from the Integrated Autism Service to run an Autism Awareness day in our community which consisted of two workshops with parents, councillors, business owners and adults with autism who revealed what life was like for them living in our county and the daily struggles faced.
We created a sensory booth to give an insight into what life could be like living with autism from extreme sensitivity to heat, light, noise and smell and being assigned a challenging task to complete whilst in the booth.
"I had no idea what my son had been going through.... when he said he could hear the electricity in the walls I thought what do you mean, I now get it. " Parent of a young person with Autism
"I really valuable insight into the condition, what a fantastic session " DCC Councillor Mark Young
